The Venue

Skill-building workshops

Participants will choose and attend 3 of the 4 workshops offered, led by industry experts from HLM. Each worksop is 1.5 hours.

Plain language for written communication

Written communication that is long, convoluted, and full of jargon is hard to understand and use, which means it can prevent people from getting the care they need. We will teach you how to write in ways that most people can understand and use. You will learn how to use language that is clear and concise, so your health education materials are more likely to help people. Facilitators will touch on emerging technologies in health writing, including generative AI such as Chat GPT.

Health literacy:
Design at your desk

People are less likely to connect with your health information if it does not look good. A little bit of design can go a long way in engaging your patients and communities. The good news is that content creators do not need an expensive graphic design program. Learn how to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Canva to create engaging, health-literate materials. Facilitators will touch on emerging technologies in material and resource design, specifically considerations for using generative AI images in health communications.
